The immediate past governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazụ, has predicted an end to the crises bedevilling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the crises would soon be over.
He said most political parties cannot survive what the PDP has survived; assuring the members that everything will be okay before the 2027 general election.
Ikpeazu, who spoke with journalists in Aba, said the PDP has inbuilt mechanisms to resolve its problems than any other political party in the country. He explained further that until a party faces problems and gets out of it, it will not be able to know whether it has sufficient resilience and buffers to survive.
“Most of the other political parties, apart from my party, can’t survive what we have survived so far. But we have inbuilt mechanisms to resolve our conflicts, because partisan politics is such that there has to be conflicts and I’m sure that the resolution of the conflict is in sight and everything will be okay.
“2027 is almost here and people are jostling, so it’s usual. The noise you hear in the market place is not a war, it’s haggling,” he said. On his future political plans, Ikpeazu said: “My plan is to be a strong party man, remain focused and look to God.
There’s nothing that has come to me that didn’t come from heaven and heaven is still open.” In his contribution, the senator representing Abia Central in the National Assembly, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), said he would not abandon the PDP, because the party has done so much for him.
