The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said nobody is too big to be disciplined by the party for antiparty activities. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Olungunagba, who spoke against the rumoured invitation of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, by National Disciplinary Committee, said the committee has the authority to invite any member of the party it feels has explanation to make.
Olungunagba at a press conference in Abuja on Monday said, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party directed the establishment of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees.
“They have their terms of reference,” he said, adding that the committees were given mandate to do their jobs. “We have given them terms of reference.
We know they are men of quality (and) integrity. “And in their wisdom, each of the committees can invite anybody who is a member of this party. “Then they can make recommendations on their report to the NWC, which, of course, we consider.
And then we can send to NEC for approval or amendment,” he stated. PDP spokesperson accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of arresting, torturing and detaining members of the party in Edo State, prevent them from voting the September 21 governorship. Among those arrested, according to him, were Mr. Kingsley Osahon who he said, was arrested in Uromi, Mr. Odion Bright and Mr. Timothy Isibor, who were arrested in Igueben.
He said: “Last Wednesday, August 28, 2024, an attempt was made by the said APC-controlled operatives to arrest Chief Francis Inegbeniki, who recently defected from the APC to the PDP.”
