The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend took a swipe at Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade for refusing to sign the anti-grazing bill into law.
Ayade had last week said he will not sign the bill which was passed by the State House of Assembly into law because “Fulani herdsmen are my brothers.”
Angered by this position, PDP in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi accused Ayade of loving Fulani herdsmen more than those who voted him into power. PDP said the governor was taking the people of the state for granted, noting that the governor’s position could induce anarchy.
They said: “To say that the statement from Governor Ben Ayade is utterly insensitive, inciting, nauseating and sickeningly unbecoming would be an understatement.
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in strong terms, such reprehensible statements from the governor, who ordinarily should always stand with his people first, before trying to sound politically correct just to massage the ego of the hegemonic Fulani herdsmen.”
The party therefore called on the governor “to expeditiously sign into law the antigrazing bill as Cross River cannot afford the luxury of war and anarchy.”
