The Ekiti State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has recommended the expulsion of the former Governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose over allegations of anti-party activities.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, PDP Caretaker Chairman Dare Adeleke stated that Fayose’s public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is detrimental to the party’s interests.
The recommendation for Fayose’s expulsion has been submitted to the Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Panel and the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Reconciliation Committee.

Adeleke emphasized that Fayose’s actions, including his claim that the PDP is “dead in Ekiti” and his support for Oyebanji’s second-term bid, contradict the party’s values and undermine efforts to rebuild its presence in the state.
Fayose’s remarks came during the inauguration of the Dehead/Faglo Road project.
At the event, he praised Oyebanji for his governance and development strides. Adeleke criticized the former governor, accusing him of seeking personal gains from Oyebanji.
Also, he stated that Fayose is misrepresenting the state of development under the current administration. The Ekiti PDP leadership is urging the national PDP to expel Fayose and his allies.
It warned that their continued presence threatens the party’s cohesion and future prospects. Adeleke called for a united effort to strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2026 elections.
He also stressed the need for leadership that genuinely prioritizes the people of Ekiti State.
