On Friday, Senator Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) called for peace and a return to the status quo amid the ongoing feud within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued in Abuja, the BoT Chairman urged all feuding parties to de-escalate tensions in the interest of the party unity.
Expressing concern over the internal strife, Wabara emphasized the importance of preserving the stability of the PDP.
He acknowledged that disagreements are a natural part of any political organization but stressed that the PDP’s tradition of internal democracy should not be undermined.
“The BoT calls on all sides of the NWC to sheath their swords and revert to the status quo to preserve the unity and stability of our great party,” Wabara said.

The BoT Chairman assured party members that the BoT would work to mediate the situation, stating, “We remain committed to promoting peace, unity, and progress within the PDP, and we call on all party faithful and supporters to stay calm as we resolve these issues.”
This call for calm comes after a faction loyal to acting National Chairman Umar Damagum announced the suspension of National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN).
The announcement was made by PDP National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, who confirmed that a committee, headed by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, had been established to investigate allegations against the officers.
In a counter-move, a faction led by Ajibade suspended Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu over accusations of disloyalty.
Ologunagba responded by issuing a statement declaring the suspension of both Damagum and Anyanwu from their positions.
The BoT’s intervention aims to resolve the escalating conflict and restore normalcy within the PDP’s leadership as the party navigates this internal crisis.
