The Camerounian government has firmly broken it silence on the rumours surrounding the health of its President, Paul Biya.
The government who spoke in a statement issued on Wednesday reassured the public that the 90-year-old leader is alive and in good health.
This statement comes after widespread speculation that the long-serving president had been hospitalised and passed away.

The Minister of Communications, Rene Emmanuel Sadi stated this in an official announcement made on the state radio.
Rene confirmed that Biya is “Well and alive” and will return to the country soon.
The minister’s remarks were reinforced by André Magnus Ekoumou, Cameroun’s Ambassador to France, who debunked claims that the president had been admitted to a hospital in Clamart, France.
He expressed his frustration with the false reports, confirming that the president is currently in Geneva, Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Grégoire Owona, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, warned that the government would take action against individuals spreading these rumors.
He stated that those attempting to mislead the public about Biya’s health would face legal consequences, regardless of their location.
The government’s strong response highlights its commitment to addressing misinformation, as rumors of Biya’s health have sparked concern in Cameroun and beyond.
Biya, who has ruled Cameroun for over four decades, remains a central figure in the country’s political landscape.
