Some youths in Oyo State yesterday protested against bad governance in the country in Ibadan. Though some policemen were seen making calls for reinforcement, the youths were peaceful in their conduct as they called on the police to keep vigilance.
The leader of the protest, who refused to mention his name, said: “We’re here to exercise our constitutional rights. We have to free ourselves from these hoodlums who call themselves leaders.
“We cannot continue like this. Enough is enough. This is #Endbadgovernance protest. We’re just converging. The protest has not started. “We are not afraid or intimidated by the presence of security personnel.
“We’re performing our duty as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended). “It is the duty of the security to protect us so that there will not be any casualty. “It is our fundamental human right to engage in peaceful protest.”
In some of their placards, they deplored the high cost of foodstuffs, the high cost of fuel and high inflation rate. They asked President Bola Tinubu to change his policies of further enriching the rich while making the poor masses get poorer and live a miserable life.
