Oyetola At 70: APC Empowers 200 Women In Osogbo

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osogbo local Government area has organized an empowerment programme with over 200 women benefited from the initiative.

The empowerment programme held at Tinubu/Shettima Campaign office, Osogbo was organized in celebration of the 70th birthday of former Governor of Osun State and the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,.Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.

The event which aimed at supporting women in their businesses and encouraging their participation in economic activities, was facilitated by Honourable Lekan Badmus, the Director of Marine and Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), leading the distribution of empowerment funds.

Speaking, Badmus said that the party came up with the empowerment programme in order to assist the beneficiaries boosting their businesses.

Badmus who spoke through Comrade Amitolu Shittu: “We are giving them financial support so they can invest more in their businesses.

“If they can gather up to half a million Naira, they’ll be able to expand their ventures significantly. Now that we are giving them additional capital, we hope to see them thrive.”

He noted that the beneficiaries were selected from various wards across Osogbo, with no bias in the selection process.

Representatives from different communities were present, ensuring the initiative reached the grassroots level.

He harped on the importance of unity within the party, stating, “I want to appeal to all APC members to work together, regardless of any differences.

“It is crucial to maintain unity as this will help us win future elections and continue empowering our people.”

He emphasised that such programmes are essential to the party’s success and urged other politicians to emulate this initiative by giving back to their constituents.

Speaking,.the Secretary of Ilerioluwa Empowerment Program Initiative, Olalekan Agbaje while commending the efforts of Honourable Lekan Badmus, described the empowerment Programme as a “signal of better things to come,” highlighting that it was not only timely but also essential for providing economic relief to the women involved.

The APC representative also encouraged all party members to unite ahead of future elections, with optimism about the party’s chances in Osun State.

“Now, I can see a very bright future for the APC in Osun State. If we organise ourselves and remain united, no opposition can stand against us,” an executive declared confidently.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the empowerment program would make a significant difference in their lives.

The APC executives assured the gathering that the initiative is just the beginning, with more empowerment programs planned for other local government areas in Osun State.
