Osun Obaship Tussle: Crisis Mars Appointment Of Olu Of Agbowo

Otunba of Iwoland, Chief Sikiru Wahab Atanda, has enjoined the Osun State Government to exercise restraint in the purported crowning of Musibau Akande Gbenusola as the Olu of Agbowo.

Otunba Atanda stated that the said Musibau is a tenant at the Agbowo community originally owned by Ankan and Kondo families in Iwo.

He revealed the Agbowo designate has no criteria to hold even a chieftaincy title in the Agbowo community let alone appoint him a king. He disclosed

Otunba tasked Governor Adeleke to do further investigation through the Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to ascertain the rightful owner of the community.

He revealed his interaction with Governor Ademola Ademola at Rev. Esther Ajayi Love of Christ Church in Lagos when he honoured Chief Dele Momodu at an event as jolly, which has given him a positive impression. He advised the Governor to respect that path of honour and desist from acts capable of setting Iwo community people against one another.

“I’ve interacted with Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke at many functions one of which was the Thanksgiving done at Rev. Esther Ajayi of Love of Christ Church, Lagos. It was a jolly moment and that gave me a positive impression of his image which I’m hopeful he maintains till date”

“For record purposes, the original land owner of the Agbowo community are the Ankan and Kondo families of Iwo. The embattled Musiba Akande Gbenusola is just a tenant at Agbowo. He bought some pieces of land to build houses. In the history of humans, I’ve never seen where a tenant appointed to be king over landlords. I’m hopeful Your Excellency will not want to write such a history”

“While imploring Your Excellency to further a holistic investigation, I appeal to the protesting people of Ankan, Kondo, entire Agbowo, and Iwoland by extension to maintain a peaceful atmosphere”

“As a peace-loving Governor, I’ve strong conviction in him to rescind the appointment so as to sustain the peaceful atmosphere in Iwoland.”

All efforts to get the side view of the newly appointed Olu of Agbowo proved abortive as his number could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
