Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has emerged as a major doubt for Nigeria’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya, following fresh concerns over the severity of his hamstring injury.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, suffered the injury during a Turkish Super Lig match against Kasimpasa last weekend.
While the 24-year-old initially played down the extent of the damage, Galatasaray confirmed on Tuesday that he has begun treatment for his left hamstring, sparking fears that the injury could sideline him for several weeks.
The forward, who has been in superb form, is a key figure for the Eagles, and his absence would be a significant blow to Nigeria’s AFCON qualification campaign.
Galatasaray have already announced that Osimhen will not feature in their UEFA Europa League clash against Latvian side Rigas FS today, as the club prioritizes his recovery.
