OOU Spokesman Honoured for Ethics, Professionalism

The Deputy Registrar in charge of the Corporate Affairs Division at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Mr Adeniyi Oduwole, has been honoured by the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Ogun State chapter.

The honour was in recognition of Oduwole professional contributions and commitment to excellence, as well as the growth of the university, especially in propelling the image and information dissemination in the university Oduwole, a seasoned public relations officer was conferred with an award of Professional Excellence during the 2024 Professional Summit and Award Presentation of APBN, held at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The university spokesman and other awardees at the event were nominated by their respective professional associations, which are affiliates of APBN. A member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Oduwole is also a member of other bodies, including the International Public Relations Communication and Marketing Network, Canada; Public Relations Society of America; Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria; Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and Association of University Administrators (AUA) United Kingdom.

Oduwole, who has served the university in many capacities, is currently on sabbatical leave at the Media and Corporate Relations Division of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State. As part of his services to the nation, the award recipient has contributed to the education landscape of the nation, using his expertise in crisis management, industrial relations, strategy formulation and implementation, as well as excellent communication skills to help sustain peaceful co-existence among members of many university communities and their host communities.

In his remarks, the APBN Chairman, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke, stated that the chapter recognised Oduwole’s contribution to the development of professionalism as well as his hard work and dedication. Responding to the award, Oduwole expressed gratitude to the APBN for honouring him with the prestigious award, saying it would further motivate him to continue making a positive impact in both his chosen field and the society.

The Deputy Registrar restated commitment to using his skills and expertise to make a difference in the society and also inspire others to strive for excellence and uphold ethical standards. He said: “I am truly humbled and honoured to receive this prestigious award. I am grateful to the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria for recognising my efforts and dedication. This award is not just recognition of my work, but also a testament to the support of my family, professional colleagues and mentors.”
