The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his fourth wife, Olori Folashade Ashley, have welcomed the arrival of their first child, a baby boy together.
The announcement was made by the Ooni himself on Tuesday on his social media page, where he shared a picture of him and the new mother.
While expressing gratitude to God in his post, Ooni wrote, “To God be the glory, great things he has done.”

He went on to extend heartfelt congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa, as well as Olori Folashade, for the birth of the new Prince.
The Ooni noted the significance of the new prince’s lineage, noting that he hails from both the mother’s side of the Ooni Adagba Royal Compound of the Lafogido Ruling House and the father’s side of the Ooni Agbedegbede Royal Compound of the Giesi Ruling House, both of which are tied to the Royal throne of Oduduwa.
The monarch confirmed that both the mother and the child are in good health, attributing their well-being to the grace of God and the protection of their ancestors.
He concluded his post with the hashtag #Otisese, reflecting the traditional and cultural significance of the birth.
This happy event comes just five months after the Ooni welcomed a set of twins with another of his wives, Olori Tobiloba. The twins, who were born in March, were formally received by the Ooni at his palace in Ile-Ife in August, marking another significant moment for the royal family.
