The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and recognize Chief Olusola Nehemiah and Ezekiel Awude as the Labour Party (LP) governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the forthcoming Ondo State election.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite on Friday unanimously confirmed Nehemiah and Awude’s candidacies for the November 16 gubernatorial poll.
This decision follows a joint suit filed by the Labour Party, Nehemiah, and Awude against INEC and other parties.
Justice Nwite upheld the legitimacy of the second Labour Party primary that resulted in Nehemiah and Awude’s nomination.

The court noted that Nehemiah had paid ₦20 million for his nomination form and later reimbursed ₦5 million to Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus, who withdrew from the race.
The judge also declared the actions by the Julius Abure-led Labour Party in disowning the primary election as illegal, ordering INEC to formally publish Nehemiah and Awude as the party’s official candidates for the Ondo governorship election.
