Ondo Guber: No vacancy in Government House –Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyeditawa of Ondo State yes- terday declared that there is no vacancy in the state government house. Aiyeditawa stated this, while speaking to jour- nalists after his appear- ance before the screening committee of the party at its national secretariat in Abuja. He said: “You see, we are all indigenes of Ondo state and we are all quali- fied to run to be the Gov- ernor of the state but there is a sitting Governor, no vacancy.

That’s what I am saying that I have the structures; the people and the competence. “Within the few months that I assumed office they have seen clearly that this is the best man for the job. Yes because of the peace in the state and some of the programmes that have been rolled out to the peo- ple.“In fact, like I said the other time, my coming out to continue as Governor of Ondo State wasn’t borne out of my own ambition or desire but because of the yearnings and aspirations of the people; the endorse- ment of the traditional rulers, the students, arti- sans, everybody; the com- munity leaders, even the civil servants, everybody is happy with the current state (of affairs); peace and security, and people are go- ing about their businesses without fear.” However, other aspi- rants for the office of the governor of the state un- der the party dismissed the claim of the governor.

The APC National Vice Chairman, South West, who is also an aspirant for the office, Chief Isaac Kekemeke dismissed Ai- yeditawa’s position, stat- ing that he is a liar. According to him, “if there was no vacancy he couldn’t have subjected himself for screening. “The fact that he came here for screening meant that there is vacancy in the Ondo State government house.” In this same vein, the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim said that the Ondo State governor is a joker. Ibrahim, who said that he was the most qualified to govern the state, said that the governor is a joker.

Senator Ibrahim said, “He’s joking. It is a big joke. He can’t continue in government with P8, P7. The governor is joking, big joke, huge joke, he is crack- ing with you. He is out of that place by the time we finish primary next week, he is gone and there is virtually nothing he can do about it.”

Another aspirant, Chief Olusola Oke said: “It’s an aphorism for all incumbent persons. I heard this one in Lagos, when Akinwunmi Ambode was there; he said “no vacancy.” But, he had to leave when he needed to leave.” Meanwhile, inaugu- rating the Screening and Appeal Screening Committees, the APC Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru told the committee mem- bers “In your hands lie the success of our party in Ondo State governorship election.”
