The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has accused the opponents of fabricating lies out of desperation to discredit the state government and its candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the November 16 governorship election.
The Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, described the recent barrage of unwarranted attacks and unfounded allegations directed at Governor Aiyedatiwa and the party as a pointer to desperation on the part of the opposition.
Otaloro in a statement issued on Sunday said such behaviour is not only unbecoming but also a disservice to the electorate who deserve constructive discourse over mere political mudslinging.
According to him, “It is evident that their criticisms stem from a place of desperation, as the opposition grapples with the reality of dwindling support.
“Many former members of their ranks have defected to the APC, drawn by the remarkable achievements and transparent governance demonstrated by Governor Aiyedatiwa in his tenure.”
He said, “We wish to remind the opposition that elections are won through a focus on concrete achievements and a clear vision for the future, not through baseless attacks and fabrications.
“The people of Ondo State are eager to hear about viable policies and programmes that will uplift their lives, rather than being subjected to the venomous rhetoric that has characterized the opposition’s campaign thus far.
“In the coming weeks, the APC will launch a robust campaign, built on the foundation of our life-changing initiatives and our commitment to the welfare of the people.
“We seek the support of the electorate to continue our journey towards a brighter future, one that aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As we navigate these challenging economic times, it is crucial to remain steadfast and united. The opposition’s attempts to politicize national issues and attribute them solely to the Governor and the APC are not only misleading but also a distraction from their internal struggles.
“We encourage them to reflect on their shortcomings rather than casting aspersions on those who are diligently working for the betterment of our state.
“To the good people of Ondo State, we urge you to remain resolute in support of the APC.
“Let us continue to work together to build a prosperous and resilient Ondo State. Together, we will overcome the challenges ahead and ensure our beloved state thrives.”
