The Minister of Sport, John Enoh, has showered praises on the Federal House of Representatives for the N100m support given to Team Nigeria. The Federal House of Represen- tatives on Thursday approved a ₦100m support package for Nige- rian athletes, demonstrating the leg- islature’s commitment to boosting the country’s sports development drive. Sports Minister, Enoh, expressed his gratitude for the support, stating, “I thank the hallowed chamber for their patriotism. This gesture is a commitment from the legislators to foster national unity through sports and boost the international reputation of the country, using sports as an instrument for international relations.”
The approved funds will be uti- lized to enhance the preparation and performance of athletes, ensuring they have the necessary resources to compete at the highest levels. This initiative reflects the government’s ded- ication to supporting sports and recog- nizing the hard work and dedication of Nigerian athletes. “We are committed to providing our athletes with the best possible support to help them succeed,” added Minister Enoh.
“This funding will significantly impact their training and preparation, enabling them to achieve great- er heights in their respective sports.” This significant ges- ture aims to motivate and empower Nigeri- an athletes to excel in international compe- titions, promoting na- tional pride and unity. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker Taju- deen Abbas, said: “We recognize the importance of sports in nation-building and the potential of our athletes to bring glory to our great nation. This support is a token of our ap- preciation for their dedication and hard work.” Oly
