As part of moves to boost the vocational skills development of students, the old students of Eva Adelaja Girls’ Secondary School Old Girls Association (OGA), United Kingdom have concluded plans to commission the newly established Eva Adelaja Girls’ Secondary Grammar School Old Girls’ Association Vocational Centre built for the school.
The vocational centre, according to the President of the Eva Adelaja Old Girls Association (UK), Afolashade Ope, which is in line with the objective of World Bank Project, titled: “Girls and Work Project,” built at Gbagada, Lagos premises of the school, will be commissioned on April 17, 2024.
The centre, which was said to be estimated at the cost of N30 million, is designed to provide academic support and skill development opportunities for the students and other products of the school. The centre is one of the initiatives embarked on by the UK chapter of the association in the drive to meet the ever-growing demands for skills necessary for employment and entrepreneurial development, given the role of vocational skills in fostering life-long learning and self-development.
The President of the association said: “This initiative was executed to support the objectives of the World Bank Project, titled: Girls and Work Project, which is aimed at improving the living conditions of girls through provision of job opportunities and training, particularly for those who are yet to complete their education.”
