The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide has blamed the fuel pump price on bad governance and mismanagement. According to the youths, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri is not responsible for the energy crisis.
The group’s acting National Leader Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, in a statement over the weekend, said the government was putting in measures to reform the oil sector for the overall interest of the country.
The youths said: “We have had a fruitful deliberation with the Minister of Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri and his team where we have expressed concerns and emphasized on the need for continuous and unrelenting reforms of the petroleum sector. “This is with policies that benefit the ordinary people and improve the overall well-being of the economy.
“We acknowledge the challenges inherent in fuel subsidy removal and the impact of infrastructural deficiencies in the sector, and we are very proud of the uncommon achievements recorded so far by the Tinubu administration ranging from an increase in crude oil production.”
