Ogun: Panic As Cultists Kill Popular Area Boy

There is palpable tension among residents of the Ijeun Titun Area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, following the killing of a popular area boy and a member of the Aye confraternity group, identified as Olumide Ifeoluwa.

Our correspondent gathered that, Ifeoluwa, who was popularly known as Tescom was shot dead by suspected members of the Eiye cult group on Sunday evening.

Ifeoluwa’s death was in continuation of the supremacy battle among various cult groups in Ogun State.

New Telegraph reports that the cult war which started in 2022 has claimed no fewer than 50 lives across the state.

Residents of the deceased’s community told our correspondent that, the gang members invaded the community in an unmarked Toyota Corolla car and started shooting sporadically.

A gory picture of Ifeoluwa which has been circulating on social media showed the deceased lying on the ground with his head blown out and his brain splattered.

A resident who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity said, the assailants came into the community and shot Ifeoluwa in the head when he was breaking his fast.

“Some boys came into the community with a Toyota Corolla and opened fire on the victim while he was breaking his fast with his friends. The incident happened at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

“Tension has engulfed the community as many residents have started leaving the area in fear of a reprisal attack.

“There is going to be a serious fight in Abeokuta and other areas of the state because that man killed was a popular aye member and a known political thug.

“There will be reprisal attacks from his gang members, but we are speaking to the police to step up security in Abeokuta and its environs”, the source said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola confirmed the killing to our correspondent.

Odutola said, “One Olumide Danish Ifeloluwa ‘Tescom’ was shot in the head by unidentified gunmen in an ash Colour Corolla nil REG number at Somefun Ijeun Tuntun, today (Sunday) at 19:55hrs.”
