The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday said it has detained three individuals at an illegal oil refinery in Rivers State over oil theft.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi made this disclosure on Monday in Abuja.
According to Afolabi, the unlawful bunkering activities took place at Nembe/Odagwa Creek in the Etche LGA of the state.
He revealed that a big dug-out reservoir cushioned with a tarpaulin that could hold 100,000 litres of illegally refined crude oil was discovered at the site.

He further stated that the alleged culprits are now providing all relevant information and would be charged in court following a thorough investigation.
”Upon sighting our operatives some of the suspects abandoned the illegal bunkering site and took to their heels manoeuvring through the creek,” he said.
He praised several residents for consistently providing information to the corps and encouraged them to continue providing actionable intelligence that would lead to the arrest of the culprits.
”Our commitment to rid the nation of all acts of economic sabotage in the oil region remains firm and we will not be deterred.
”We advise those engaging in such unscrupulous business to repent or face the full wrath of the law,” he added.
