The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Sector Command has taken four alleged vandals in the Kwali area council of Abuja into custody.
This was contained in a press statement made available to New Telegraph on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, Samuel Idoko in Abuja.
According to him, one of the suspects was apprehended at the National Mathematical Centre (NMC) while taking out an armored cable, and his arrest facilitated the capture of the other three.
He added that other stolen cables were successfully recovered from a market where they had been taken for sale as a result of the suspect’s confession during questioning.
The suspects, who are between the ages of 20 and 35, will face legal action if found guilty in accordance with Section 3 of the NSCDC Act, according to an NSCDC official.
“This section empowers the Corps to arrest, detain, and prosecute in the name of the Attorney General of the Federation,” he said.
Idoko reported that in a different incident, while on patrol, members of the Command’s Anti-Vandal Unit found an AK-47 rifle missing its magazine on an Abaji farm.

“The farm owner alerted the men on patrol. He said he discovered the rifle on his maize farm in the morning when he went to work.
“The rifle has been taken to the Command’s headquarters for safekeeping and further investigation,” he said.
Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the NSCDC FCT, praised the anti-vandal team for their bravery and dedication in defending the vital infrastructure of the nation and guaranteeing the security of its citizens.
Odumosu tasked the crew with keeping up the pressure and making more arrests in order to push back vandals.
He applauded the farm owner for not keeping the firearm to himself and for reporting it to the patrolling officers.
He urged citizens to emulate the “patriotic spirit” exhibited by the farm owner by promptly reporting any crime or suspicious movements and activities in their communities to security agencies closest to them
