A group, the Coalition of Northern Civil Society Organisations (CNCSOs), has lauded the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for their actions against bandits and other criminal elements.
The groups also hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the northern part of the country. In a statement by Alhaji Usman Usman yesterday in Abuja, the CSOs said the strategic appointments of Ribadu and Matawalle marked a turning point in the fight against insecurity.
According to Usman, as National Security Adviser, Ribadu has implemented a multi-faceted strategy that integrates military, political and socio-economic initiatives, prioritising crossborder cooperation, youth empowerment and local institution reinforcement.
He added that Matawalle meanwhile has taken the fight to the bandits, adding that his leadership has brought hope to the region. He said: “Engagement with traditional leaders, community groups and civil society organisations has been pivotal.
His commitment to regional and international cooperation demonstrates Nigeria’s determination. “Ribadu’s expertise has strengthened Nigeria’s security architecture, addressing evolving threats.
We salute his dedication to protecting Nigerian lives. “Matawalle has utilised a strategic approach which has brought hope to the troubled region. His unwavering commitment strengthened the military, restoring hope to communities terrorised by banditry.
“The elimination of Mai Hijabi, a notorious terrorist leader, under Matawalle’s leadership, demonstrates effectiveness. Matawalle inspires Nigerians with dedication”.
The CSOs, however, urged Nigerians to continue to support Ribadu and Matawalle, adding that community-based initiatives and cooperation are vital.
