Northern Coalition Submits Blueprint On Tackling Insecurity To Tinubu

A group, Northern Coalition Group (CNG), yesterday submitted a blueprint to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a new strategy on how to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the northern part of the country.

This was even as the coalition linked lack of understanding and agreement between the Federal Government and the state governments in the war against bandits, kidnappers and other criminals disturbing the region as the major reason why the problems persist. Speaking during a stakeholders engagement on security in northern Nigeria with the theme;

“Changing the Narrative of Insecurity in Northern Nigeria,” between the CNG, artists, social media influencers and bloggers in promoting peace and security in the region, the group’s Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Dr Nastura Ashir Shariff, said; “Today there is a serious lack of working synergy between the Air Force and the military, between police and the DSS and between the Federal Government and state governments in the fight against insecurity.”

“This disagreement and lack of synergy sometimes resulted in the death of more than 300 people in Zamfara State, because when the military wanted to attack they informed the Air Force for a collaborative mission, but because of disagreement, these numbers of innocent lives was killed.” Shariff said because of these problems, there had been a meeting with all the military generals, top security agencies and all other stakeholders.
