No Russian Flag Hoisted During Protest In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Government has debunked the claim that a Russian flag was hoisted by the protesters during the recent protests against hunger and bad governance.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Peter Ahemba, said yesterday the protest recorded a low turnout in the first place and was shunned in the remaining days of the protest due to the various interventions provided by the government.

He said that the underage children that were brought into the protest on the first day were closely monitored by security officials, saying there was no Russian flag hoisted by the protesters in any part of the state during the protest and urged members of the public to disregard the false report.

He said: “The claim that protesters hoisted the Russian flag during the recent protest in the state has no iota of truth. The allegation is false, misleading and mischievous to say the least.”
