The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has increased the retail price of petrol to N1,030 per litre at its filling stations in Abuja.
This development has sparked concerns of skyrocketing transportation costs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a sudden move, NNPCL stations raised the fuel price by N133, representing a 14.8% increase from the previous price of N897 per litre.

New Telegraph reports that this marks the second price hike within a month.
At the NNPCL mega station in Central Area, customers were caught off guard as the new price was not displayed on signboards or pump meters.
Instead, fuel attendants verbally informed customers of the price increase.
“I’m very angry right now,” said a customer, who wished to remain anonymous.
“I entered this station thinking their price would be better, only to be informed by the fuel attendant that the price had risen to N1,030.”
In contrast, independent marketers’ stations, including sold petrol at N926 per litre, albeit with long queues.
