Barring any last-minute changes, the trial of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, September 24 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
New Telegraph gathered that the resumption of the trial comes amidst heightened attention, with many awaiting the court’s next steps in the long-running case.
Kanu, who has been on trial since his rearrest and repatriation from Kenya in 2021, faces multiple charges brought against him by the Nigerian government, primarily centred on terrorism-related accusations.

A public notice released by Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed the hearing would proceed today.
His statement reads: “PUBLIC NOTICE: As was previously scheduled, the hearing of MAZI NNAMDI KANU’s case will be held TODAY (24th Sept) at 10AM instead of 12 noon as was done before.
“Venue is the same Federal High Court, Abuja. As usual, #MNK will be in attendance. This hearing is crucial.”
Kanu’s trial and the legal proceedings surrounding it have seen several adjournments, making today’s hearing particularly crucial in determining the future of the case.
Supporters of Kanu and the IPOB movement are expected to closely monitor the developments, as the trial could potentially shape the trajectory of the separatist agitation in Nigeria.
