The Nigerian Labour Congress has warned of a nationwide strike if its President, Joe Ajaero, is detained by the Nigeria Police.
The threat followed an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the NLC headquarters on Tuesday morning, where the leadership discussed Ajaero’s police invitation over allegations of terrorism financing.
Deputy President Comrade Ado Kabiru Sani stated, “As a committed labor center, we will honor the invitation of the police because we are not a faceless organization.

“However, we are working with our lawyer for an extension of time for Ajaero to appear before the authorities.”
Sani further warned, “In the event that the President is arrested, all workers will down tools immediately. We should wait for further directives from our leadership.”
