The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap, has announced that the diaspora sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests are now on a watchlist and will be arrested upon entering the country.
Nandap made this disclosure on Tuesday while speaking at a meeting of the heads of security agency and Service Chiefs, convened by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja.
According to her, “We have diaspora sponsors; they are on our watchlist. They are watchlisted. Any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified, and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority.”
In order to tighten the security and manage the inflow of individuals connected to the protests, the immigration boss maintained that the Service has deployed more officers to borders, both land and airports, to ensure effective manning of entry points.
Nandap also emphasized that the Service has enhanced its surveillance and monitoring mechanisms to address any potential threats posed by the sponsors of the protests.
