Nigerian, Otobo, Emerges Pioneer Archival Science, Diplomatic Professor

Africa’s first Archival Science and Diplomatics Professor at Ballsbridge University, United Kingdom, Elvis Efe Otobo, has stressed the need of records management, archival science and others in the Records and Information Management ecosystem both locally and internationally.

Otobo, who was appointed the pioneer Archival Science and Diplomatics Professor in Africa and currently leading the largest online platforms for archives and records management professionals worldwide at the University of Plymouth, UK, said his publications in renowned journals and a significant collection of unpublished research papers contributed significantly to the advancement and development of Archival Science.

According to the former Acting Director of Public Relations, Protocol and Marketing, and GST Lecturer at Caleb University, Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos, his designed training courses in archives and records management which received global recognition, have been pivotal in the university’s growth. A graduate of Public Administration from the University of Benin;

Masters in Archives, Records, and Information Management from the University of Ibadan, and PhD in Information Resources Management with specialisation in Archival Administration and Records Management from Babcock University, Otobo played a pioneering role as Nigeria’s first business archivist with collaborative efforts with the National Archives, United Kingdom in providing annual training for Nigerian records managers, archivists and others in the Records and Information Management ecosystem.
