Nigerian Navy Commences Investigation Over Civilian Staff’s Death

The Nigerian Navy(NN) has announced that it has started investigating into the death of Mr. Ifeanyi Onumaegbu, a member of its civilian personnel.

This declaration was made on Thursday in Lagos by Vice-Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff.

The Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, NNRH, Ojo, Lagos, where Onumaegbu was employed, is where he passed away, he stated.

He added that the deceased had been a civilian employee of the Ministry of Defence since 2009 and had been employed by the NNRH Laboratory Department.


He said”The navy is deeply saddened by the demise of Mr Ifeanyi Onumaegbu and the circumstances surrounding his death.

”On March 31, he was found lifeless in his office at NNRH.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that on March 26, the deceased was involved in an altercation with a civilian lady and some NN personnel in Navy Town Barracks.”
