Nigerian Coast Guard Bill Will Generate More Revenue To Govt- Noah Ichaba

…Calls on N’Assembly to accelerate the passage of Bill

The Captain of the Chaplaincy Corps and CEO of the Provisionary Committee, Mr Noah Ichaba, on Wednesday, said the passage of the Nigerian Coast Guard Bill, would generate more revenue for the Government.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Ichaba said that the bill if passed, would be central to the success of Maritime Security, promotion of the economy, creation of millions of jobs, national image enhancer and pride of maritime stakeholders.

He, therefore, called on the National Assembly to accelerate the passage of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard Bill into law, to generate revenue and create job opportunities for the teeming Nigerian youths.

Coast Guard is a Sea Military Security, Service Provider that performs an array of specialized multi-mission duties of maritime law enforcement, and management of the security of waterway transportation.

Ichaba said that this call on the National Assembly to pass the bill became necessary now that the lawmakers were getting set to carry out the demanding task of legislation.

He said: “It is apt to ask everyone to embrace the unbeatable reality and fact that the impending agency is a child of necessity that is central to the success of maritime security, promotion of the economy, creation of millions of jobs, national image enhancer and pride of maritime stakeholders.”

He expressed optimism that the bill would be passed into law in good time, warning Nigerians not to fall victim to mischievous misadventure by contemnors seeking relevance and opportunity to make a dishonest livelihood.

The CEO noted that this counsel is for the benefit of setting the record straight in line with decency, standard procedure, and global best practices and for all unassuming and fair-minded readers.

Part of the statement averred: “This piece of advice is important because the facilitation team is the driver, the followers are the vehicle, the Bill is the destination, the legality of the proposed agency is the vision, better maritime security is the target, rightly placing Nigeria among Maritime Nations of the world is the purpose, generating handsome “revenue for the government is the fulfilment, putting money in the pockets of its the workforce is the mission.

“Placing food on the table of respective families is the accomplishment and ending sorrowful stories in the maritime security sector and joblessness is the attestation that the Provisionary Committee of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard is relentlessly and selflessly pursuing.

“These duties are different from the duties of the maritime commercial service providers that are responsible for carrying cargoes from one seaport destination to another seaport destination, across the world and that that is meant for the defence of the territorial integrity of the nation against external aggression.”

The statement said that the proposed agency would break the yoke of the debt burden on the nation and further serve as Nigeria’s competitive strength.
