Nigerian Army Begins Demolition Of Unserviceable Ammunition In Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Army’s 6 Battalion Ibagwa has announced the commencement of a demolition exercise for unserviceable ammunition and explosives at the 6Bn Range Area in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The operation, which begins today, Monday, August 19, 2024, is scheduled to continue until Thursday, August 22.

In a statement released by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Adebowale Adejimi, the Army reassured residents of the area of their safety.

The statement partly reads, “The demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives is scheduled to take place at 6 Bn Range Area in Abak LGA, from 19-22 August 2024.”

Adejimi further advised residents to “stay off the designated exercise area” and “not to panic at the sound of explosives.”

He further assured that “adequate measures have been placed for safety and security at the range area and its environs.”

Residents are urged to comply with these guidelines to ensure their safety during the demolition process.
