Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has restated his administration secured admission for 300 foreign scholarships for students and 700 local beneficiaries to pursue their Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
Nwifuru made this announcement in Abakaliki, the capital city on Tuesday while delivering his address on the occasion of activities marking the 64 Independence Day Anniversary and Ebonyi State at 28
He said that the progress of work was in the advanced stage in the primary and secondary sub-sectors, especially in the 39 model secondary schools across the State.
“Our local and overseas scholarship programme is in progress, the State Government through the scholarship board, has secured admissions for 300 foreign scholarship beneficiaries and 700 Local beneficiaries to pursue their Masters and doctorate degrees”
“On primary education, our government is focused on entrepreneurship, skill acquisition and education for economic and self-reliance at all levels”
“As such, in primary and secondary sub-sector; works are at advanced stages in our 39 Model secondary schools across the State”
Nwifuru extolled the leadership qualities of President Bola Tinubu and the founding fathers of the state, for their contributions in advancing the course of development.
” Mr President continued support for Ebonyi State in critical areas such as infrastructure development, healthcare, and education has been instrumental to our progress”
On health, Governor Nwifuru reiterated that the government has ensured quality healthcare delivery through the state teaching and general hospital.
“I am glad to inform you that we have successfully procured four Magnetic Resonant Imagery Machines (MRI), medical consumables and other medical equipment for use in our 13 general hospitals”
“We have injected over N100 million for our route immunization, the government has successfully completed 2023 immunization against Out Break Response (OBR) for children”
Earlier in their separate speeches, two former Governors of the State Dr Sam Egwu and Chief Martin Elechi, extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Nwifuru in the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
They enjoined the people to continue to accord full support to the administration to enhance the realization of it’s policies and programmes.
Highlights of the occasion were the presentation of staff of office, to newly elected traditional rulers that cuts across different local governments in the State.
The event had in attendance members of the National Assembly, the deputy Governor Princess Patricia Obila, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Moses Odunwa, members of the State Executive Council and House of Assembly members.
Others include traditional rulers, members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), youth organizations, women groups and members of the State chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo Socio-Cultural Organization.
