Niger: Two Brothers Die In Boat Mishap

Tragedy struck when two brothers were killed in a boat mishap at Kippo village, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

Mallam Habibu Wushishi, the state’s Director of Media and Strategy, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Minna.

Wushishi claimed the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, and that the victims were fishermen.

”The deceased fishermen were on board fishing on the river Niger when the boat capsized due to the heavy rainfall and windstorm.

”One of the bodies has been recovered while search and rescue operation is ongoing to recover the body of the other victim,” he said.
