Niger Govt Receives 200 Tractors From John Deere

The Niger State government through Niger Foods has received another batch of 200 tractors from John Deere in preparation for dry-season farming.

In a statement issued by the state government said it will increase its farming capacity from the initial 250,000 in this rainy season.

“The seeds to be used for the dry season are hybrids, and the Niger Foods has already purchased them, as can be seen in the pictures below.

“Also, Bayer AG, a German-based pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Agricultural company, will be supplying more seeds to Niger Foods as contained in the MOU signed in April this year at the side event of the World Bank/IMF Sring Meetings in Washington, USA with Niger Foods”.

The state government will cultivate rice, maize, millet, sorghum, and beans.

The expected outcome for the coming dry season production for all the grains is one million tonnes.
