New Minimum Wage: Tinubu To Meet With NLC On Thursday

President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday, July 11, meet with Organised Labour to continue discussions on a New Minimum Wage for Nigerian workers.

New Telegraph reports that President Tinubu will meet with labour leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, said to be at the instance of the President, will have the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Trade Union Congress (TUC), in attendance.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Government and organized labour have been at loggerheads over the implementation of a new minimum wage for workers.

While labour is demanding N250,00, the Nigerian Government has proposed N60,000 as the new national minimum wage.

The proposed meeting will come about a month after the President promised to send an Executive Bill to the National Assembly on the minimum wage.

Tinubu made the promise during his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024.
