New Minimum Wage: NYSC Speaks On Upgrade Of Corps Members’ Account

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied claim making rounds on social media that it has directed the  payment of the new minimum wage of N70,000 to Corps Members.

Debunking the allegation that it directed all corps members to upgrade their accounts for the payment of new minimum wage, the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, on Sunday in Abuja said the purported news was false.

Megwa described the circulating information as “absolute falsehood,” urging corps members, parents, and the public to disregard the misleading claims.

“Corps members, parents and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from any relevant sector of government responsible for wage matters.

” It is therefore impossible for the NYSC to issue any directive on such. Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly,” he stated.

In addition, he cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against making unauthorized statements regarding the management of the NYSC, emphasizing the importance of verified information.

“The NYSC by this release, therefore, urges corps members to desist from allowing mischief-makers to play on their intelligence,” he added.
