
The Edo State Police Command on Saturday said that the new Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi has assumed office in the state.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, Moses Yamu, said the CP who is mindful of the yearnings of the people of Edo State in terms of security and safety, is soliciting for the cooperation of the general public to subdue all forms of crime and criminality in the State.
The statement reads, “The Edo State Police Command wishes to inform the public that CP Umoru Ozigi has assumed duty as the new Commissioner of Police in the Command.
“The new CP who hails from Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, is a graduate of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, got enlisted into Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, and trained in the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.
He has served the Force in various capacities within the last 30 years and he will bring his wealth of experience to bear.
“CP Ozigi possesses vast experience and knowledge in investigation, Operations and Administration. He is a highly disciplined, detribalised and hardworking officer who will wield these attributes to ensure the lives and property of all the residents of the State are protected.
“The CP is mindful of the yearnings of the people of Edo State in terms of security and safety and is soliciting for the cooperation of the general public to subdue all forms of crime and criminality in the State.” The statement said.
