New Delta CP Assumes Office, Promises Hard Time For Criminal Elements

The new Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Wale Abass has pledged “to build on existing security mechanisms already in place towards enthroning the reign of peace and safety.”

Cp Abass who officially assumed office on Monday at the state command vowed to face the criminal element in the state with operation no mercy

AIG Ari Muhammed Ali, the previous occupant of the position, has been transferred to Lagos State to serve as the Assistant Inspector General Zone 2.

As a result, Abass will take over as the 21st Commissioner of Police in Delta State.

The new state police chief instructed teenagers not to allow themselves to be used in any illegal activity and urged the general public to always cooperate with the force and other security organizations.

Abass assured Deltans that the Command, under his direction, would make sure that the state became uncomfortable for criminals. He added that he was not new to Delta State and as such would carry on from where his predecessor left off.

The new CP bagged his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science from the University of Lagos. He is from the Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State. The same university also awarded him a master’s degree in international law and diplomacy.

On March 3, 1990, he joined the Nigeria Police Force as a member of the prestigious Course 16 Cadet ASP and began his training at the prestigious Police Academy, Kaduna.

He has held a number of positions within the Nigeria Police Force, rising to become the Squadron Commander of Unit Commander 16 Squadron (PMF). In addition, he held the positions of Area Commander Mubi in Adamawa State, Area Commander Railway in Lagos State, Assistant Commissioner of Police in Delta State’s State CID, Area Commander ‘C’ in Surulere in Lagos State, Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations in Yobe State, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delta State’s SCID Asaba, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Oyo State Command.

He was appointed as the 21st Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, in 2022 after being raised to the position of Commissioner of Police and posted to the Benue State Command, where he served for a year and four months.

CP Abass is blessed with children and a happy marriage.
