The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that the deadly flood in Ibadan caused by a torrential downpour on Tuesday claimed one life and left two people missing.
The flooding, which primarily affected the Joyce-B/Mobil area of the state has been linked to improper drainage systems.
New Telegraph gathered that many homes were submerged, damaged properties and infrastructure, while residents pleaded for government intervention to create proper drainage channels.
NEMA’s South-West Coordinator, Kadir Olanrewaju whi;e speaking on the development on Wednesday stressed the urgency of relocating residents to prevent further disasters, as more rainfall could lead to a worsened situation.

Two Residents of the town Solomon Agboro and Oni Bishola described the devastation, noting that their homes were flooded, causing significant losses to household items.
Agboro and his family had to flee to the upper floor of their residence for safety, while Bishola shared that Tuesday’s flood was the most severe in four years.
NEMA warned that the area, being a flash flood zone, could see more severe damage if no proactive steps are taken.
Several buildings in the area had their lower structures weakened, further raising safety concerns.
The agency urged the government to address the drainage system, while residents appealed for urgent intervention from both local and state authorities.
Roads in several areas, including Felele, Ring Road, and the Idi-Odo junction, were also affected, with severe disruption to traffic flow and infrastructure damage.
