NEDC bags TheNigerian star award for national intervention and recovery

The North East Development Commission(NEDC) has been nominated for an award of excellence by UK-based media group, TheNigerian News.

In a letter addressed to its Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali, the company said the NEDC will be recognised as Most Outstanding Agency for National Intervention and Recovery.

According to the company, NEDC alongside other agencies and distinguished Nigerians will be awarded at its fifth anniversary scheduled for Thursday.

” We are rewarding NEDC’s efforts since 2019 in fulfilling its core mandate of reconstruction and development of the North-East. The NEDC has risen to the responsibility of receiviing and managing funds from allocation of the Federal Account, international donors for the settlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, houses and business premises of victims of insurgency as well as tackling the menace of poverty, illiteracy level, ecological problems and any other related environmental or developmental challenges in the North-East states,” TheNigerian said.

“In particular, the completion of ICT centres, construction of housing units and completion of abandoned projects across the region have attracted the attention of Nigerians beyond the North-East”.

The event, which will be held at the NAF Conference, will be chaired by the Honourable Minister of Special Duties, Senator (Dr) George Akume while His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano is Father of the Day.

The National Youth Service Corps and its Director-General, Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, His Excellencies, Ambassador Tukur Buratai, Governor Mai Mala Buni, Governor Abdullahi Sule and Governor Bala Mohammed will also be awarded.
