The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked rumours its Thursday’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting is geared towards removing Umar Damagun as acting National Chairman. Yusuf Dingyadi, the Senior Special Assistant to the PDP National Chairman on Media and Communications, stated that the National Working Committee (NWC) has been working on the NEC meeting to address the challenges facing the main opposition party.
According to him, the NEC meeting is expected to be attended by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Vice President Namadi Sambo as well as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike and PDP governors. Dingyadi acknowledged the internal crises in the party but said they are not peculiar to the PDP.
