Four fake officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has been arrested for allegedly hijacking and diverting pharmaceutical Tramadol worth N200 million in Lagos State.
Also recovered from the suspects identified as Mgbemena Innocent, Anayo Benchuks Ambrose, Uche Frank and Jemilu Chindo, include military camouflage.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Force Criminal Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Lagos. The Police Public Relations Officer, Force CID Annex, ASP Mayegun Aminat, in a statement yesterday said the breakthrough was recorded through a discreet investigation initiated into the case following a petition to AIG Force CID Annex, AIG Ogundele Ayodeji by Manfes Pharmaceutical Company Limited, Anambra state.
According to the police spokesperson, the petition by the company had outlined how the two trucks conveying the 5,000 rolls of Tramadol 100mg capsules were hijacked and diverted by the suspects to an unknown place after being cleared at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos in June 2023.
“The suspects who dressed in NDLEA jackets to carry out the act, were arrested after credible intelligence and the goods were recovered on July 23, 2024, by the operatives in a residential building located at number 9, Randle Road, Apapa area of the state.
