Traditional rulers in the Niger Delta have assured President Bola Tinubu of their support for his policies and programmes aimed at fostering peace, safety and development in the region.
They also expressed their support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Administrator Dennis Otuaro, saying his appointment was well-deserved.
The monarchs stated this at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the PAP in Warri on Monday. A statement by the PAP said the meeting also examined the roles of traditional rulers in peacebuilding, security and stability of the region.
The royal fathers of Tuomo Kingdom, King F. F Tabai; Kabowei Kingdom, King Peremobowei Erebulu; Agbon Kingdom, King Ogurimerime Ukori; Akugebene-Mein Kingdom, King S.P Luke; and Ogulagha Kingdom,King Joseph Timiyan expressed confidence that people would benefit from Tinubu’s work in the region.
The group said: “We need to appreciate the President for finding our son worthy of that office and putting a square peg in a square hole.
“He should be rest assured of our full support. Having listened to the plans he has for us, from our own end, we will do everything necessary to ensure that Mr President succeeds.
“The developmental plan he has for Niger Delta will be given the necessary support to ensure that it is executed, and our people will be the beneficiaries in the long run.
