N’Assembly Tribunal Upholds Dachungyang’s Election

The National Assembly Rerun Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi yesterday in a landmark judgement reaffirmed the election of Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) as the duly elected senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Cordelia Ogadi, dismissed the petitions filed by Shafi’u Sahlan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Ambassador Chris Giwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking in merit.

The tribunal’s verdict validated the February 2024 rerun election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which declared Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang and the ADP as winners.

The petitioners had contested the outcome of the rerun poll, but the tribunal’s exhaustive judgment, spanning over three hours, found no substance in their claims.

In upholding Dachungyang’s election, the tribunal has put to rest any doubt about his mandate, reinforcing the will of the people of Plateau North.
