Namadi Moves To Mitigate Flooding In Jigawa

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has directed that cogent action should be taken to prevent flooding in the state this year.

According to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Shua’aibu Rabo Ringim, the governor gave the directive during a meeting with the Commissioner of Environment, Dr Nura Ibrahim, and other ministry officials.

The statement indicated that Governor Namadi emphasized the need for urgent measures to address the annual flooding menace, which poses a significant threat to the lives and properties of citizens. To this end, he ordered the immediate relocation of necessary materials for the embankment of frontline areas across the state.

A nine-member committee has been established to engage with local communities and solicit their support and cooperation in the flood mitigation efforts.
