Following the tragic tanker explosion that claimed over 180 lives in Jigawa State, the Governor of the state, Umar Namadi on Tuesday briefed President Bola Tinubu about the progress so far.
Namadi who met with President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja revealed that 210 families were affected in the tragic incident.
New Telegraph recalls that Last Tuesday, a petrol tanker exploded at Majiya town, along the Kano-Hadejia expressway in Taura LGA of Jigawa state.
Speaking with Tinubu, the governor told the president that currently 80 people were hospitalized, adding that the state government has paid their bills.

“I felt it is important to come and brief the president on what we are doing as a government and also thank him for sending a delegation immediately after the incident happened,
“This action taken by Mr. President has been appreciated by the people of Jigawa.
“So, I felt I should come to thank him for doing that and also to brief him on the situation, where we are and what we are trying to do.”
“Mr. President has promised to intervene and assist the victims,” Namadi said.
He further stated that the state government has already established a high-powered committee, headed by a retired DIG, to find out the remote cause and advise the government.
Namadi Added that, Mr. President gave a directive immediately to the Corps Marshal to investigate the matter and come up with a permanent solution to this problem (tanker explosions) in the country.
