The Nigerian Air Force School of Finance and Accounts (NAFSFA) has held a combined graduation ceremony for 61 finance officers, airmen and airwomen in Badagry, Lagos.
The combined graduation ceremony is the Basic Finance Officer Course, Accounts Upgrading Course and Initial Basic Accounts Course.
In his remarks at the graduation at the weekend, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, who was the Guest of Honour at the occasion, said the training would greatly improve their thought processes and prepare them for tasks ahead.
According to him, this graduation ceremony marks significant milestones and the commencement of new chapters in your careers as finance officers and account clerks.
“As you stand on the threshold of this new chapter, it is expected that these trainings reflect in your performances in your respective deployments.
“Additionally let me remind you the graduands that discipline is the bedrock of any military force without which there can be no unity and team spirit. The sensitivity of your speciality and trade requires you to be diligent in administering public funds.
“I therefore charge you all to uphold the very high standard of discipline the Nigerian Air Force is known for and always promote integrity and excellence in service delivery,” he said.
Abubakar, who was represented by Air Vice-Marshal Uchechi Nwagwu, Chief of Accounts and Budget (NAF) urged graduating officers to shun clamour for regime change during the protest period.
“In the period of protest and clamour for regime change, I charge you all to remain loyal and be dedicated to the service. Remember that you are all the guardians of freedom, an embodiment of courage and defenders of our values.
“Accordingly you must all remain apolitical and refrain from sharp practices capable of denting the image of the Nigerian Air Force as you go forth.
“You must put Nigeria first and be ready always to defend our nation and its democracy once again I celebrate all the graduants and your achievements,” he said.
The CAS, however, said that the graduation ceremony would be the last in Badagry. According to Abubakar, I wish to commend the efforts of the Chief of Accounts and Budget and the Commandant of NAFSFA for navigating the affairs of the citadel of learning despite their numerous challenges.
“These challenges include flooding, infrastructure problems, power supply and accommodation issues. I promise to do all I can within my capacity to ensure my full support towards rebuilding a better learning environment.
“Consequently, the NAF is making serious efforts to relocate the School to Ibadan, and the project is ongoing. The NAF will continue to strive to sustain the school in all ramifications,” he said.
