My Ultimate Aim Is To Improve, Enjoy Myself On Pitch – Gift Monday

Super Falcons of Nigeria striker, Gift Monday has disclosed that her ultimate aim as a young footballer is to get better in the game and enjoy herself on the field.

Gift Monday, a UD Costa Adeje Tenerife of Spain forward in a chat with newsmen disclosed that her football journey started from the streets, where it became a passion worth pursuing.

“As a kid, I loved playing street football like most Nigerian kids, and I became passionate about it to the point that I couldn’t do anything else other than playing football because of how much joy I derived from it.


“I never really planned if I was going to make a career out of it or not because I didn’t know much about football being a professional thing, all I thought about was just football and whatever it brings and I’m grateful for what it has brought me and what it will bring in the future,” she said.

Gift added that her decision to be a striker stems from her skill set.

“There are skills based on your role, I have an eye for goal, and I know how to get into goal-scoring positions, most especially, creating scoring opportunities for my teammates because I always want to win.”

The former FC Robo Queen captain went ahead saying “To improve as a player, I need to free my mind and enjoy myself on the pitch, only then will I be able to do things that I can do without pressure and stress”.

As she continues to make strides in her career, soccer fans around the world eagerly await the next chapter in the remarkable story of Nigeria’s football prodigy, Gift Monday.
