Multi Sports Pre-Season Return, Partners Lagos FA

The annual pre-season football tournament, Multi Sports Pre-season Football Tournament will return in August 2024, with the organisers of the championship, Tata Sport Ltd, announcing a partnership with the Lagos State Football Association ahead of this year’s edition.
With a tentative date of August 12, the tournament is expected to run for six days as top Nigeria Premier Football League and Nigeria National League sides already signifying their interest.

According to a release made available to our correspondent, the newly promoted Ikorodu City of Lagos, top the list of five strong NPFL side, with champion Rangers of Enugu also expected to be part of the tournament.
Others are Rivers United, Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars while NNL and Amateur teams are to be represented by 36 Lions, Inter Lagos, First Bank and Smart City.

Games will be played both in the morning and evening of each day at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos with teams expected to register with N200,000 each.
According to the CEO of Tata Sport Ltd, John Tata, the main reason for the pre-season is to provide an enabling environment for teams to prepare for next season.

“To provide an opportunity for fans to have a glimpse of their foremost teams as they prepare for the season and to assist the football league organisers in early preparation for the team,” he said.
The maiden edition of the pre-season tournament was won by defunct Dolphins FC while the second edition was also won by now defunct Sharks FC, both of Port Harcourt.
Other winners are Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Delta Force of Warriors and Warri Wolves, both of Delta State.
